On the 18th and 19th of February a bunch of us met up in Manchester for North West Thing (the first in person DF Business meeting since 2019). We had a great time discussing how to communicate better (both with central woodcraft and with ourselves), planning out what we want DFs to look like in the future and generally organising the rest of the year.
We also went on a trip to the newly opened Manchester Museum and took part in a solidarity protest in support of the Manchester University Rent strikers.
Key decisions of the Meeting:
- To start a mailing list to keep DFs and others updated about what is going on
- To organise some extra events both for fun and to facilitate Training
- To make a Zine about DFs to take to V-camp (If you would be interested in this email Chair@spanthat.world)
- Set up a working group to support local DF groups (email events@spanthat.world to get involved)
- Encourage DFs to volunteer at V-camp, especially as stewards
- We want Merch! Send your designs to our instagram or Fundraising@spanthat.world
- Changed some events dates
- Spring awakening now starts on the 2nd and ends on the 6th of April
- London thing will not be held on the 1st and 2nd of July (new dates will be released soon)
- Althing will be held on the 19th and 20th of August in or near Sheffield
- DF Camp will now be held from the 20th to the 27th of July
- Central Woodcraft are also looking for young people to join the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working group (email deborah.mccahon@woodcraft.org.uk to get involved)
