As I book for Winter Wonderland 2019, it’s hard not to reminisce on the previous years event…
Just after Christmas, I set off for my second ever DF event: Winter Wonderland 2018. I didn’t know what to expect, I’d been to a DF Camp but what happens when the temperature is in single digits and your coat has practically become a third skin on your body?
After everyone arrived and settled in, we started preparing the DF classic: pasta and tomato sauce.
Filled up on our yummy meal, we moved over to the activities room and were treated a brilliant live music performance which turned into a silent disco later into the night. There was also a comfy, quieter space for people to enjoy, talk and play board games in.
Throughout the 3 days that followed, a variety of workshops were run in the day and the evening program always entertaining.
In the day the activities room was filled with games, workshops, political discussions and even a Mini Thing!
There were craft activities through the day, and although the t-rex wasn’t created on the event, you’ll be surprised at the creations that were.
The DF New Year (night of the 29th December) being celebrated in full swing with a Merry Moot (performances and shows from any DFs that want to perform), fire show by an experienced person, as well as the expected singing, dancing and generally merriment!
The whole event was cosy, welcoming and full of new friendships being formed between mixes of new and old DFs.
If you are a new DF thinking about going on an event, we are waiting to welcome you! And if you’ve been on an event before but haven’t booked, why not??
The dates are 27th Dec to 30th Dec, and the nearest station is Stone (Staffs). More travel information will be available after you book.
Hint… it’s time to book!
