For the first time in three year, Spring Awakening was successfully held in a small town called Ledbury. With roughly 40 DFs travelling from up and down the country (as well as a fair few trekking from Scotland), this event was larger than initially expected. Fortunately, the heavy rain and snow that was predicted for setup day didn’t come to fruition. In fact, our emergency gazebos and event shelters had to be dedicated to sun protection.

As well as the beautiful weather, Spring Awakening had an action-packed programme to fill the days thanks to our amazing programme team. This included exciting activities like web weaving, workshops covering podcasting and protesting, cyanotypes and an eventful trip to Ledbury. There were plenty of things to get stuck into, and a fantastic site to explore in the downtime. In the evenings, DFs gathered once more for bingo, a spring-themed quiz and a movie night, all followed with campfires and songs.

Another highlight was the fantastic menu, put together by our spectacular KP team. Hits included splendid soups, brilliant bhajis and perfectly cooked rice (a DF first!). Following tradition, eggy bread was also served in plenitude.

None of this could have been possible without the hard working Co-ord Team:
Admins – Cherry and Caitlin
KPs – Jonah, Lara and Ellie
Programme – Lizzie and George
KEs – Hazel and Finn
Massive thanks to the team! Keep an ear out for new events coming over summer!!
Blue skies,
DF Communications Team
